Introducing the Scientific Report: ‘A Systems Analytics Approach to Reducing Plastic Pollution in Indonesian Societies’. We are proud to announce the release of our comprehensive scientific report presenting key research findings and recommendations to support the Indonesian government’s urgent goal of reducing #marine #plastic by 70% by 2025 and building a circular economy by 2040. Funded by UK Research and Innovation, the PISCES program’s four-year study (2021-2024) offers a systems-based “toolbox” of evidence-based approaches and solutions aimed at understanding and addressing the systemic causes of plastic leakage, rather than merely treating symptoms. The PISCES Partnership recently visited Bali PET Recycling, a model for responsible plastic waste management in #Denpasar. This visit highlighted our commitment to community-centric recycling practices. Mr. Wira and Mr. Siwan discussed the growing challenge of plastic waste and the urgent need for action. Bali PET Recycling, supported by Danone Indonesia’s #BijakBerplastik and PT Namasindo Plas, have partnered to address this critical issue. Mr. Budi from PT Namasindo Plas also visited the facility to emphasize the importance of ensuring quality in recycled plastic before processing. During the event organized by United Cities and Local Governments Asia-Pacific (UCLG ASPAC) - Climate Resilient and Inclusive Cities (CRIC) in Nusa Dua Bali, 28 October 2024, the PISCES Partnership & PISCES Living Lab was honored as an International Waste Management partner alongside several other esteemed organizations. Under the theme “Towards Inclusive and Resilient Cities: Ecosystem and Waste Management for a Sustainable Future”, on waste management session, the representatives from #Banyuwangi, #Padang, #Boyolali, and #Denpasar, shared their experiences in effectively managing waste as regulators. They highlighted how collaborative efforts and innovative strategies can address waste management challenges head-on. The Living Lab in #Banyuwangi serves as a place-based innovation center where innovative solutions are tested and monitored in real-life contexts. Our goal is to bridge critical knowledge gaps, enabling more effective and sustainable plastic management in Indonesia. PISCES plays a pivotal role in providing evidence-based solutions, advocating for meaningful changes in government policies, industry practices, and community behaviors. We engaged with the DLH (Rogojampi's sanitation workers area—Service Office of Environment) to introduce concepts of plastic reuse. As dedicated sanitation workers responsible for keeping Rogojampi’s streets clean, they emphasized the significant challenge posed by the overwhelming amount of plastic waste mixed with organic and non-organic waste. We commend these sanitation workers for their commitment to encouraging the community to reduce single-use plastic.The reuse initiative arises from the collaborative vision of @piscespartnership and @enviu @zerowastelivinglab to kickstart the #ReuseRevolution concept in Banyuwangi.…..……………………PISCES Partnership baru-baru ini bekerja sama dengan DLH (petugas sanitasi Rogojampi area—Dinas Lingkungan Hidup) untuk memperkenalkan konsep penggunaan kembali plastik. Manajer PISCES Living Lab, Titing FAHRISA, bersama Al Munawaroh (Grup pengajian Islami Desa Kemiri), membahas secara mendalam tentang bagaimana rumah tangga dapat menerapkan praktik belanja yang berkelanjutan. 🛒✨ Bersama-sama, mereka mengeksplorasi penerimaan masyarakat terhadap pembelian kebutuhan sehari-hari dengan kemasan #gunaulang sebagai pengganti #plastik sekali pakai. Pada bulan Agustus 2024, Manajer PISCES Living Lab kami @Titing Reza Fahrisa dan Dr. Loula melanjutkan partisipasi aktif mereka dalam Workshop Entrepreneur – bagian 2 di Banyuwangi. Dengan melanjutkan kemajuan dari Workshop pertama pada bulan April, mereka memberikan kontribusi yang berdampak dalam 10 minggu sesi yang didedikasikan untuk mempersiapkan masa depan kewirausahaan berkelanjutan dan inovasi.Ucapan terima kasih khusus kepada mentor brilian kami, @Prof. Amaresh Chakrabarti dan @Prof. Vishal Singh, serta @Dr. Anubhab Majumder dari Indian Institute of Science (IISc) yang telah membagikan pengetahuan dan membimbing kami melalui proses mendirikan PISCES Living Lab sebagai penyedia layanan dan jasa.
