The PISCES partnership brings academic researchers together with business, industry, governments, NGOs, and civil society in a collaborative and inclusive way to understand and manage the risks posed by plastic pollution. It does this by addressing key knowledge gaps that are critical to unlocking a sustainable future for plastics in Indonesian societies. PISCES aims to inform, complement, and catalyse national and global action programmes to solve the plastic challenge – providing evidence-based solutions and system-change interventions to support real change in government policies, industrial practices, and consumer behaviour.
The PISCES team offers unparalleled research and innovation capability across the breadth of disciplines and sectors necessary to solve the plastic challenge. Our integrated team brings interdisciplinary skills to tackle the plastics issue, and has the capability to improve understanding and craft potential solutions. We can research environmental, social, economic, and technical aspects of the problem, either separately or collectively, and apply a systems- analysis approach, at (local, regional, national, and international levels.
PISCES aims to be a knowledge hub for plastics in global societies. We will maintain a current, up-to-date understanding of research and scientific progress relevant to the purpose of plastics in Indonesian societies, so that key areas for further research and investigation can be identified and explored. We produce high quality academic papers in leading journals, as well as thought-starters and policy communications, with the aim of engaging meaningfully with a global audience for Plastics in a Sustainable Society.
